탁구 라켓,나전칠기의 아름다움을 담다

탁구를 사랑하는 한 유저로부터 
특별한 요청을 받았습니다. 
“세상에 나만 가질 수 있는 탁구 라켓을 만들어줄 수 있을까요?” 라는 간절한 부탁이었죠. 단순한 주문 제작이 아닌, 그분만을 위한 진정한 맞춤형 라켓을 만들어야 한다는 책임감이 생겼습니다.
이 작품을 시작하며 저는 많은 고민을 했습니다. 어떤 디자인이 특별할까? 
어떤 재료를 사용해야 할까? 기능성과 예술성을 동시에 갖춘 라켓을 만들 수 있을까? 고민 끝에 우리는 전통과 현대의 조화를 이루는 나전칠기를 선택했습니다.

탁구 라켓에 담긴 전통과 혁신

나전칠기는 오랜 세월 동안 한국의 장인들이 공들여 만들어 온 전통 공예 기술로, 자개 조각을 하나하나 정성스럽게 붙여 섬세한 문양을 완성하는 방식입니다. 우리는 이 고유한 기술을 활용해, 라켓 손잡이에 정교한 나전칠기 문양을 특별히 붙이고 9번의 옻칠을 합니다.

이 과정은 결코 쉬운 일이 아니었습니다. 탁구 라켓이라는 스포츠 장비에 전통 공예를 결합하는 것 자체가 새로운 도전이었기 때문입니다. 하지만 단순한 장식이 아니라, 손에 쥐었을 때의 그립감, 무게 배분, 타구 시의 균형까지 고려하며 수많은 시행착오 끝에 마침내 완성된 나전칠기 그분만의 라켓이 탄생했습니다.

그 가치를 담아이 라켓은 단순한 스포츠 장비를 넘어 사용자의 개성을 담은 예술 작품이 되었습니다. 
탁구 유저 한 사람의 간절한 바람에서 시작된 이 도전이, 이제는 한계를 뛰어넘는 새로운 가능성을 제시하게 되었습니다.

A One-of-a-Kind Custom Table Tennis Racket,

Embodying the Beauty of Najeonchilgi

One day, I received a very special request
from a table tennis enthusiast.

“Could you make a table tennis racket
that only I can have in this world?”

It wasn’t just another custom order.
It felt like a responsibility to create a truly unique racket
made only for that one person.

As I began this project,
I asked myself many questions.

What kind of design would feel truly special?
Which materials should I use?
Can I create a racket that combines both functionality and artistry?

After much thought,
I chose Najeonchilgi,
a craft that harmonizes tradition and modernity.

Tradition and Innovation in a Table Tennis Racket

Najeonchilgi is a traditional Korean craft
that has been passed down through generations of artisans.
It involves carefully cutting and placing small pieces of mother-of-pearl
to form delicate and intricate patterns.

We decided to apply this unique technique
to the handle of the racket,
delicately inlaying mother-of-pearl patterns
and then coating it with nine layers of lacquer.

This was by no means an easy process.
Combining traditional craft with a sports instrument
like a table tennis racket was a challenge in itself.

But it was never meant to be just decoration.
We considered:

• how it would feel when held in the hand,

• how the weight would be distributed,

• and how the balance would respond at the moment of impact.

After countless trials and adjustments,
the racket was finally completed—
a Najeonchilgi racket made only for that one person.

A Racket Like No Other –

Capturing Its True Value

This racket is more than just sports equipment.
It has become a work of art
that reflects the individuality of its owner.

What began as the heartfelt wish
of a single table tennis player
has now opened the door
to new possibilities beyond conventional boundaries.

Table tennis is a sport that constantly demands
research, development, and evolution.
Now, we are entering an era
where players can go beyond mere functionality
and express their own style and identity
through truly custom-made rackets.

Today, I am proud to introduce this special piece to you:
a one-of-a-kind custom racket
that captures the beauty of Najeonchilgi,
traditional mother-of-pearl inlay.

And this is only the beginning.
We will continue to pursue new ideas and innovations
to create even more special products in the future.
